Answers to the questions that are most commonly asked about usng Faraway villas.
Q. What if I need help, are you located in another country or an office in Bangkok?
A: All villas except for one (Faraway Villa) , are own by other people. We are only the reservation agent, and pass your deposit on to the owner. We try to ensure that all villas are advertised correctly, and the terms and conditions are reasonable. We do live on the island and are here to offer unbiased oppions.
Q. Do you own or run the villas?
A: Most other reservation sites are either located in another country, perhaps a main office in Bangkok, or use a franchise reservation system which is not their own. Our office is on Samui, our reservation system is our own, you can stop by our office any day.
The Faraway Villa is run entirely by us, we also use the gardens & villas for weddings.
Q. Who is guarranteeing my reservation?
A: You actual reservation is being answered by the owner or manager of the villa, not by us. Your deposit paid via a secure internet connection to a Thai bank, is transfered to the owner. Our contract with the owner states that payment of the required deposit secures the reservation. But you may also be required to pay any remaining balance prior to arrival.
Q. Are you Thai /Western?
A: Faraway is a Thai company, owned and run by Western & Thai, so we are able to combine western understanding with local knowledge & customs.
Q. What deposits do I pay?
A: This does depend on the owner, but most want 50% deposit, and the remainder with in 30 days of check in. Cancelation conditions may vary slightly, so please read the cancelation conditions for each villa.
Q. Is Vat or any service charges payable?
A: It is clearly stated on each villa web page, and in the emails you receive. VAT in Thailand is 7%. Most villas prices do not include service charges & VAT, so this can mean an extra 17% to the listed prices.

Q. What are the extra costs?
A: Please read the terms and conditions, but in general there are few extra costs beyond VAT & service charges (if not included). Obviously breakages & damage can be assessed by the owner if applicable, and the number of guest staying should be clearly indicated in the reservation.
Q. How do I find the villa?
A: Many villas offer airport pick up, we at Faraway can also arrange this on request, or provide maps.
Q. How do I get around, where are the shops?

Depending on your villa location we can advise on shops etc, but Samui is an island with almost all activity on the road which rings the island, so it is difficult to get lost. Just keep going and you will end up where you started.
